Step 1: Pick your classes! Review the Master Timetable and course descriptions to choose your schedule. Download the Celtic College Registration Form, fill it in, and mail or email it back to us.
Step 2: Purchase Celtic College tuition (and the optional Celtic College Student Weekend Pass) at Purchase, or by mailing in a cheque, or by calling the office to process a credit card payment over the phone. Please make cheques out to "Celtic College".
DEADLINES & CANCELLATION POLICY:
The deadline for early registration (with discounted tuition) is 5 pm on the last Friday in June. We will accept Celtic College registrations until July 31 - students wishing to register after this time should come to the Celtic College on the Monday morning it begins.
Cancellations on or before the last Friday in June will be refunded in full minus a $50 administration fee.
Cancellations between the last Friday in June and August 1 will be refunded in half.
Cancellations after August 1 will not be refunded.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO ATTEND THE CELTIC COLLEGE?
The Celtic College is for those aged 13 and up. There is a Celtic Kids Day Camp for ages 4 to 12.
WHAT IS THE TYPICAL SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK?
There are four 80 minute classes per day. Students select four workshops per day and follow this schedule throughout the week. For example, you will have the same class every day from 9 am to 10:20, Monday to Thursday.
WHAT SKILL LEVEL SHOULD I BE?
Classes are designed for a variety of skill levels, from absolute beginner to master. Recommended skill levels will be marked on each class.
WHAT IS THERE TO DO IN THE EVENINGS?
Each night, a number of Celtic College instructors will perform at our Celtic College Evening Concert series. These evenings are free for everyone! In 2015, we moved these concerts to the newly-built Performance Stage in Courthouse Park. There is limited seating available so we recommend bringing lawn chairs and blankets if possible. In the event of rain, the concerts will move back to their original home, the Livery Theatre (where space may be limited!)
Following the Evening Concerts there are sure to be a number of sessions, for those of all skill levels, that spring up at one of the local pubs!
WHERE WILL I STAY IN GODERICH?
Students arrange their own accommodation for the week of the College and Festival. Goderich Tourism will have up-to-date information on all area accommodation. It is strongly recommended to book as early as possible, as accommodation can be booked up quickly.
WHAT HAPPENS ON FRIDAY?
On the Friday of the Celtic Festival, students are invited to perform on one of our Main Stages in a Student Showcase of their week's work. Participation is completely voluntary. Students are admitted to the Festival free of charge all day Friday - after Friday, a weekend or day pass wristband is needed. Weekend passes are available to students for $35, but these discounted passes must be purchased prior to the Celtic College or during the Celtic College week; they cannot be purchased at the Celtic Festival gate.
WHEN DO I REGISTER?
Registration opens for the Celtic College in May each year; once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation from the Celtic College. Upon arrival in Goderich, students are invited to pick up registration materials at the Livery Theatre on Sunday from 6.30 - 8.30 pm, or at the Celtic College location on Monday starting at 8 am.
HOW MUCH IS THE CELTIC COLLEGE?
Celtic College early tuition is $360 per person before 5 pm of the last Friday in June; after this date, tuition is $390. There is a family discount available for three or more family members attending the Celtic College or Celtic Kids Camp. Please get in touch with Celtic College administration for more information on the family discount.
IS PART-TIME TUITION AVAILABLE?
Yes, we do offer a part-time tuition of $275 for two classes a day for the four days of the Celtic College.
ARE THERE ANY SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE?
We have a mandate to promote the preservation of Celtic and folk music, dance, and culture through its transmission by education; we think this is particularly important for youth. We encourage youth aged 13 to 25 to submit a letter of not more than 500 words to the Celtic Festival outlining their musical or artistic background, why they would like to attend the Celtic College, and how the Celtic College will help preserve musical and artistic culture both for themselves and for the wider world. Letters may be submitted to the attention of the Celtic College Scholarship Committee to email@example.com, or mailed to Box 171, Goderich ON, N7A 3Z2. Applications must be received by July 1; applicants will be notified of the status of their application no later than July 8. Scholarships cover the cost of Celtic College tuition; unfortunately accommodation or travel fees cannot be covered.
