Celtic College Course Descriptions

General Music Points:

Advanced: intended for students with full mastery of their instruments and the ability to learn quickly by ear who are looking for a challenge
Intermediate: intended for students with a number of years’ experience on their instrument, the ability to learn moderately quickly by ear, and who can play a number of tunes at moderate speed
Beginners:

For Fiddle, Concertina, Piano, Flute, Fretted Strings, and Guitar: intended for students who have some knowledge of their instruments (i.e. basic chords and fingerings), can play tunes slowly, and wish to work on speed and technique.

For Whistle and Bodhran: intended for those with no prior knowledge of the instrument.

For Harp: Beginner 1 Harp is for those with no prior experience in the harp, while Beginner 2 Harp is slightly more advanced for those not yet ready for an intermediate level class. Beginner 1 and Beginner 2 are two separate classes and do not need to be taken consecutively.

A Note on Beginner vs Intro:
A Beginners class is intended for those with no knowledge or basic knowledge of their instruments. An Intro class is intended for students of intermediate level and above who wish to become more familiar with the techniques and repertoire of a certain style.

General Craft Art Points:

Most craft art classes are scheduled in half-day sessions, either two periods in the morning or two periods in the afternoon, from Monday to Thursday. There are some exceptions. All materials fees are paid to the instructor when the classes begin. Some courses require that you bring supplies to the class. Often teachers request that you contact them before attending the Celtic College to ensure they have adequate supplies.
